The Legacy

Today, Pemulwuy’s legacy as the Bidjigal Warrior who fought colonial oppression for twelve longs years, continues to be shared throughout the oral history of the Sydney basin. The Pemulwuy legend has been passed down from generation to generation. His heroism as an Indigenous leader, continues to be a national symbol for the continued fight for justice, sovereignty, and equality. The First Warrior story not only sheds a light on Australia’s shared history, from an Indigenous point of view, but is an homage to all our fallen warriors.

The WARRIOR

Pemulwuy was a man of peace, who lived an idyllic lifestyle in a country that has over sixty thousand years of history. When the First Fleet arrived, his untouched and idyllic world was thrown into chaos and flux, as colonial oppression blazed across a sacred land. With precious hunting grounds compromised, and the Aboriginal population becoming decimated by disease and violence. Pemulwuy has no other choice but to rouses the spirits of his ancestors, and protect his family, his community, and his way of life.
