Telling the story of one of Australia’s most revered Aboriginal warriors requires a team of bold and daring storytellers. Experts in their fields, a team of renowned producers have come together with Indigenous chroniclers to bring to life the tale of an unsung hero’s resistance to colonial oppression.
Director Warwick Thornton is a Kaytetye man, born and raised in the Northern Territory. He is one of Australia’s most recognised and sought after Indigenous filmmakers. An award-winning storyteller who has accumulated over forty international awards as a cinematographer, writer and director. In 2009, his debut feature film, Samson and Delilah, won the Camera d’or at Cannes. In 2019, he was awarded Best Director and Best Cinematography at the Australian Academy of Cinema Awards (AACTA) for Sweet Country. His latest feature film The New Boy starring Cate Blanchet, has earnt him the American Society of Cinematographers Spotlight Award. His other credits include, We Don’t Need a Map, Mystery Road, Firebite, The Sapphires and The Darkside.
Andrew Dillon
Andrew Dillon is an Indigenous filmmaker and is a Cannemegal, Ngarabal man who is a descendant of both the Dharug and Gomeroi people. An award-winning writer-producer and director whose credits include ‘Battlestar Galactica’, ‘Supernatural’. Andrew is the first Indigenous Australian to work within Screen Australia’s mainstream Production and Investment management team, his credits include, ‘Cleverman’, ‘Spear’, ‘Servant Or Slave’, ‘Grace Beside Me’, ‘Goldstone’, ‘Bluey’, ‘Mystery Road’, ‘Danger Close’, ‘Hearts And Bones’, ‘Little J & Big Cuz’ and ‘Sweet Country’.
Jon Bell
Jon Bell is a Wiradjuri, Bundjalung and Yaegl man, he is an award-winning writer, director, and actor. Jon is best known as the writer-creator of the ABC drama series ‘The Gods Of Wheat Street’, he is considered one of Australia’s most experienced sought after and recognized Indigenous storytellers. His list of credits includes the award-winning ‘REDFERN NOW’, the Emmy award-winning ‘Ready For This’, ‘The Warriors’, ‘Mystery Road’, ‘Little J & Big Cuz’, The AMC TV Series ‘Cleverman’ and his Award-Winning Feature Debut ‘The Moogai’.
